Nature Documentary Score

While the year is waning a soft wind is rustling in the yellow leaves. All around the forest everything seems to grow silent and thoughtful. The autumn forest has its own melancholic beauty, fragile and precious as winter draws near.

Capturing the feeling of an autumn forest involved a lot of subtle work with the strings, using different techniques, focused on slow legato and tremolo for the trembling of leaves in the wind. A lack of rhytmic elements gives the impression of stilness and reflection.

Under the surface in a world seldom visited by humans, the inhabitants of the sea thrive among corals and waving seaweed. From above the sunlight comes sparkling down, revealing an abundance of colorful creatures.

For this piece I brought in a wide range of instruments from around the world to create a vibrant and lively soundscape. Percussive elements create a feeling of activity and life, while the soft nature of underwater movement is reflected through a combination of strings and synths.

There is arguably nothing as epic as mountains; the very earth rising from the ground reaching for the sky. Some mountains are covered in green forests, others in ice and snow, some are merely naked grey rock, but utimately they all have their own epic beauty.

Mountains call for horns and large drums and the full range of the strings, from the lowest basses to the highest violins.  For the epic climax I recorded my own voice singing, almost like a religious chant of worship.
