Field recording
Collecting sounds from around the world is one of my favorite practices. Having a personal sound library with lots of variation means I am able to create unique and memorable sound design no matter the nature of the project.
One of the best things is you never know when a sound will come in handy or what it will be used for! My own recordings have found their way into anything from ambiences to UI or creature voices.
Below you can see what a field recording day trip might look like and what sounds I might come home with.
Synthesis and post-processing
Using the tools of a DAW I am able to layer and process recordings to achieve an infinite amount of results. Generating sound from the bottom using synthesis or virtual instruments can also be really handy when crafting interesting sfx and ambience.
I am comfortable using most daws and tools, but prefer working in Reaper where I have spent years customizing my setup to create an effortless sound design workflow.
Below is an example of a sound design session in reaper – this one showing the creation of assets for a mechanical dragon with different variations of short and long roars.
Implementation
As a sound designer for video games I have an in-depth understanding of middleware such as Wwise and FMOD. Besides I have years of experience collaborating with artists, programmers and game designers making me confident when it comes to taking the sound all the way from idea and into the game.
I know my way around Unity as well and love to come up with solutions to integrate the sound into the game as seamlessly as possible.
Below you can see how I would map out the wwise integration of a music system (the particular example is from Trailmakers: Airborne.)
Talks & Education
As much as I enjoy making sound and music I also really enjoy talking about it!
These past years I’ve taken the opportunity to share my knowledge with others as much as I can, meaning going to events and schools giving talks or workshops teaching the art of game audio or showcasing my work to inspire composers, sound designers and game developers. Below you can find a list of selected talks and events from recent years.

About Me
My name is Carl Lindegaard.
I am a composer and sound designer with over 10 years of experience and a bachelor's degree in sound design from Sonic College.
I have specialized in composition and sound design for games, to help game developers set the tone, support the gameplay and tell their stories.
As a composer I am shaped by a love of classical film scores as well as electronic and ambient music. In particular I enjoy taking part in the worldbuilding and storytelling process and love to explore what happens when you blend acoustic and electronic textures to create unique musical soundscapes.
As a sound designer I have experience with many disciplines and have worked on anything from voice design, creatures and foley to UI, ambiences, weapons and vehicles.
Additionally I have a background as a bass-player and as a guitarist and lead singer in the punk band SKOVL. These days I'm part of electronic music act lovehitshard, where I play the guitar.
After working full-time as a sound designer and composer at Flashbulb Games for a couple of years, I am now working freelance and available for hire if you need help with sound, music, storytelling or worldbuilding.
